Dhaka’s additional metropolitan chief magistrate, Asaduzzaman Noor, granted his request for bail on Wednesday after promising to return the money on Thursday.
Debashish Biswas turned himself in in court Wednesday and requested bail in a fraud case against him. At that time, the Dhaka judge ordered that he be sent to jail.
After some time, the defendants’ attorneys, Jahangir Hossain, Mahfuzur Rahman, and the plaintiff’s attorney, Khandaker Muhibul Hasan, again applied for bail through Apple and promised to return the money withdrawn under the agreement. The judge granted him bail on that condition.
According to the allegations in the case, on July 30, 2019, Debashish Biswas, owner of the YouTube channel PNTV, entered into a business agreement with a man named Liton Sarkar Emon from Rupnagar, Dhaka.
Under the agreement, PNTV bought four Bengali films produced by Debashish’s mother, Gayatri Biswas, for 140,000 rupees over 60 years to promote mother’s dignity, happy marriage, waiting for her, and unknowingly on YouTube channel.
The authorities of another YouTube channel closed his channel after he uploaded the images to a YouTube channel.
The plaintiff later learned that the defendant had sold the four films to someone else before uploading them to the YouTube channel in 2016. As a result, after the YouTube channel authorities uploaded the images on the subject of rights of author, the Liton government closed the Emon Canal.
In that incident, on September 6, 2019, Liton Sarkar Emon filed a fraud case on behalf of Debashish Biswas in the Main Metropolitan Magistrates Court of Dhaka.
Debashish and his mother were summoned on October 21 and an arrest warrant was issued against them for failing to appear.
The plaintiff’s attorney, Khandaker Muhibul Hasan Apple, told bdnews24.com that Gayatri Biswas, another defendant in the case, was unable to appear in court because she was infected with Kovid-19. There is an arrest warrant against him.
