Committee to identify those who helped SI Akbar escape

The police headquarters has formed a three-member investigative committee to identify those who helped SI Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, in charge of the outpost, escape the death of Raihan Ahmed, a young man, at the Bandarbazar police post. in Sylhet.

The three-member investigation committee was formed by an order signed by the Additional DIG (D & PS-1) Rezaul Haque of the police headquarters.

The other two members of the committee headed by AIG (Crime Analysis) Mohammad Ayub at the police headquarters are the Sylhet District Police Additional Police Superintendent Mahbubul Alam and the SMP Additional Deputy Commissioner Munadir Islam Chowdhury. They have been asked to report within 5 business days.

Sohail Rana, AIG (media outlet) at the police headquarters, confirmed the matter to Jugantar on Monday. He said the committee would investigate whether any member of the police was responsible for Akbar’s escape. The investigation committee is scheduled to begin work on Wednesday morning.

It can be mentioned that Raihan died on the morning of October 11 after being transferred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after being tortured at the police station. Raihan is the son of the late Rafiqul Islam of Neharipara in Akhalia, Sylhet. He used to work in a doctor’s office at the city’s Rikabibazar stadium market.

On the night of October 12, Raihan’s wife filed a case with the SMP Kotwali Police Station under the Death in Police Custody Act charging unidentified persons.

The case was transferred to the PBI following instructions from the police headquarters. After receiving the investigation, the PBI team visited the Bandarbazar police post, the town’s caste house and the victim’s home. After all, the body was taken from the grave and an autopsy was performed again.

The forensic report showed 111 wound marks on the body of the late Raihan. Of these injuries, 96 were inflamed injuries and 14 were signs of serious injuries. These injuries were caused by sticks. Raihan died of hypovolemic shock and neurogenic shock due to numerous injuries and loss of vital organs, including the brain, heart, lungs and kidneys.
