Attempts to assassinate Fakhrizade for 20 years have been successfully forgotten by the enemies of Iran.

Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said his country’s intelligence agencies had predicted possible attacks against prominent nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhriza and the possible locations of such attacks.

Ali Shamkhani made the remarks while speaking to reporters after attending the funeral prayers for scientist Fakhrizad near the capital Tehran on Monday. Enemies have been trying to assassinate the Iranian scientist for the past 20 years, he said.

Ali Shamkhani said: “Unfortunately, Fakhriza’s security arrangements have been relaxed and the enemies have made the most of that opportunity.” However, he said that the number of scientists like Fakhrizad is not less in Iran. If one Fakhrizade dies, hundreds of Fakhrizades will be born.

Shamkhani said the Iranian intelligence service was aware of the plot to assassinate Fakhrizadeh, but was unable to stop it due to the “innovative methods” used.

“Mohsen Fakhriad’s security improved, but the enemy used completely new, professional and special methods, and unfortunately they succeeded.”

It was a very complex mission, he says.

Admiral Shamkhani said “some clues” have been found about the identity of the attackers. He indicated that members of the exiled Iranian group Mojahedin e Khalq were “definitely” involved. He also mentioned the involvement of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

An English television channel, Press TV, quoted a source as saying that the killings showed signs of the Israeli military industry.

Previously, Iranian leaders claimed that Israel was behind the attack on Mohsen Fakhriad on Friday. However, Israel has yet to comment on the claims.

Israel, however, believed that Mohsen Fakhrizad was overseeing a secret nuclear weapons program.

Shamkhani, Iran’s top security official, said that Iran’s enemies could not snatch the knowledge and technology taught by Fakhrizadeh from the country’s young scientists.

Prominent Iranian nuclear scientist and president of the Defense Ministry’s Research and Innovation Organization, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, was killed in a terrorist attack on Friday night. Armed terrorists attacked a vehicle carrying Fakhrizadeh on a road in the town of Absard in Damavand county, near Tehran.
