Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mominur Rahman said the three-member committee was headed by an additional district magistrate on Sunday.
He told bdnews24.com that the committee had been asked to submit a report within three business days.
A prisoner named Farhad Hossain Rubel was released from Chittagong Jail in a murder case on Saturday morning. Later in the evening a case also came up.
According to the statement in the case, Rubel was in ward 15 on the fifth floor of the Karnafuli building of the prison. He left the room between 5:15 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
Rubel had been in jail since February 9 for a murder case at the Sadarghat police station.
Sadarghat Police arrested Rubel de Mistri Para from Double Mooring Police Station in connection with the stabbing death of a man in the middle of the night on 8 February in Chittagong.
The jail authorities have formed a three-member investigative committee to investigate the incident, in addition to removing the district and inmate deputies from Chittagong Central Jail.
