An announcement was made from the mosque not to teach janaza and marriage to family members while chanting at a social event in an area of Narayanganj port. The upazila administration has formed a committee to investigate the incident.

On Sunday, the three-member committee headed by the Upazila Elections Officer was instructed to submit its report within the next two business days.

The matter has been confirmed by Bandar Upazila Nirbahi (UN) Officer Shukla Sarkar. He said an investigative committee has been formed with the Upazila Elections Officer as head and the Upazila Education Officer and Rural Development Officer as members. They will present the report in the next two business days. Administrative action will be taken after the investigation.

Locals said loud music was played for two days in a house adjacent to the mosque. This causes problems for the worshipers when performing their prayers. The song was played despite the ban. During prayers on Friday January 1, it was instructed that music should not be organized in the Kalabagh area of Bandar Union District No. 1 for ceremonies such as marriage, circumcision and gayehlud.

If a Muslim family disobeys this instruction, no scholar will participate in their marriage or their prayers. It was even announced that if any member of the family died, the imam of the mosque or anyone else would not participate in their janaza.

This instruction was also broadcast to the locals through the mosque’s microphone. When the mosque imam did not participate in the wedding and janaza while singing, there was a negative reaction when social media went viral on Facebook.

The decision was made by the local panchayat people and the mosque committee, said Sabbir Ahmed Emon, a member of the Bandar Union Parishad 1st district. He said Mizanur Rahman, chairman of the Jannat Jame Mosque Committee in Bagh, Bandar Union Parishad District 1, raised the issue of singing at weddings and other functions before Friday prayers. This decision was made later.

He said microphones were also made in the area. If someone disobeys this instruction, no imam or scholar will come to their janaza and marriage. This decision is also correct.
