The Trump administration plans to approve £ 500 million in arms sales to Saudi Arabia before leaving the White House. Doha-based Al Jazeera quoted US media as saying.

According to Bloomberg, the State Department informed Congress on Tuesday that it was authorizing Riyadh to sell weapons capable of striking specific targets and from the air to the ground. The value of which is 466 million dollars.
The US arms manufacturer Raytheon Technology Corporation will be able to sell these weapons directly to Saudi Arabia. But before that, the factory must obtain a license from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
And the Washington Post says the deal could also lead to arms production in the Gulf state. This agreement has been in place since 2019.
The agreement also includes internal security communications. The value of which will be 98 million dollars. US President Donald Trump has been described as an Orthodox supporter of Saudi Arabia.
Trump has been personally protecting Prince Mohammed bin Salman after human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia, the murder of journalist Jamal Khasogi and the war in Yemen.
William Hartung, director of the Arms and Security Program at the Center for International Policy, said that as Saudi Arabia bombed and killed thousands of civilians in Yemen, this was not the time to sell arms to the country. He called it disgusting.
