A local gang of teenagers has carried out movie-style acts of violence in the Chashara area, the heart of the city of Narayanganj. In a trivial incident, a man named Alamgir Hossain (35) was brutally attacked and tortured.
After blocking the road, 7-8 members of the teen gang beat him twice. His clothes were torn. At that time, passengers from different transports were stuck on Bangabandhu Road for about half an hour.
The attack took place on Bangabandhu Road between the Popular Diagnostic Center and the Preparatory School near the Victory Pillar of Chashara on Tuesday night.
The injured Alamgir has lodged a written complaint with the Sadar Model Police Station. He is the tenant of Robin’s house in the northern Chashara area of the city.
Alamgir Hossain, a victim of torture, mentioned in his complaint that he was walking in front of the Popular Diagnostic Center around 8:30 pm on Tuesday night. At that time, Anik (18), the talented son of Islam Miah from the Amlapara area of the city and a friend of his, was hit to the body while recklessly riding a motorcycle and it hurt.
When Alamgir protested, Anik slapped him. This sparked an argument between the two. At one point, Anik and his friend Bahar called some people in their area, including his supposed older brother, and at one point, 6-7 people arrived at the scene on three motorcycles. Then everyone slapped and beat him for about 15 minutes.
2-3 people took off their helmets and hit him on the head one by one. He tore his clothes and tore them. At one point, the attackers snatched 6,000 rupees from his shirt pocket and left with threats.
After the incident, people in the area rescued the injured Alamgir and took him to the Sadar General Hospital (Victoria) for treatment. Later, he went to the Sadar Model Police Station and filed a written complaint, the police went to the scene. In this incident, there was tension until 11 at night.
Jahangir Hossain, younger brother of the injured Alamgir Hossain, said the attackers kicked my brother several times in the ear. Due to which the brother has lost his hearing. The ears hear nothing. He demanded the arrest and justice of the teenage gang members who assaulted his brother.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses and some locals in the Amlapara Mashuapara area said that Anik’s mother, Fateh, and father Islam, were identified as yaba traders. They used to live in Rishipara behind Chashara Hawkers Market. The area’s panchayat committee called a judicial arbitrator a few months ago and expelled him from the area for selling yaba.
Since then they have been renting in the Amlapara area. There too the woman, her husband and their son Anik are doing yaba business. Additionally, Anik has formed teen gangs and leads the theft and sale of yaba in the Amlapara, Mashuapara, Missionpara, Donchamber and Khanpur areas. A terrorist named Bahar from the Machhuapara area is protecting his gang of teenagers. After receiving Anik’s phone call, a gang of teenagers led by Bahar arrived at the scene on three motorcycles and carried out a second attack.
SI Parimal from the Sadar Model Police Station, who went to the scene, said: “I went to the scene with force after receiving the news.” In addition, we have conducted raids in the Machhuapara and Amlapara areas to detain those against whom reports have been made. But I didn’t find anyone. However, our campaign continues. We are trying to stop them in no time.
He further said: “I have asked about Anik talking to people in the area.” No one can say his current address as his mother was expelled from the area by the panchayat committee for running a yaba business. But we are trying different ways to arrest him.
Additional Police Superintendent Mehdi Imran Siddiqui, who is in charge of the Sadar Upazila area, said: “We have received the complaint and dispatched the police to the scene immediately.” We take the matter seriously and the operation is underway to arrest the accused.
The district police officer further said: “We are doing everything possible to eradicate the gang of minors in Narayanganj under the direction of the Superintendent of Police.
