The RAB has filed three cases against Monir Hossain aka Golden Monir under the Narcotics Control Act, the Gun Act and the Special Powers Act. All three cases were registered at the Badda police station on Sunday morning. Farzana Haque, RAB-3’s assistant superintendent of police (ASP), told NTV Online on Sunday.

Farzana Haque said, “Two cases have been filed against Golden Monir under the Gun and Narcotics Control Act and another under the Special Powers Act for possession of unauthorized foreign currency. He has been handed over to the Badda Police Station.

Previously, the RAB raided a home in Merul Badda in the capital starting at 10 p.m. Friday and arrested a man named Monir Hossain aka Golden Monir on charges of illegally acquiring wealth. According to RAB, Monir used to work as a salesman in a clothing store in the Gauchia market in the capital in the 1990s. From there, he has gradually become the owner of 1,50 crore rupees.

Lt. Col. Ashiq Billah, director of the RAB’s media wing, told a press conference at 11:30 a.m. Saturday that Monir was working as a salesman at a clothing store in Gauchia Market in the 1990s. Then he started to work on a tableware in Moucha, the capital, and then turned it into his own business. He started the luggage business while doing that business. He used to evade taxes and bring clothing, cosmetics, electronics, computers, cell phones, watches and other items from abroad. Thus, at one stage he became involved in smuggling gold. He also gave a jewelry store in Baitul Mukarram. The store that used to be smuggled. So from Monir he became Golden Monir. Ashiq Billah further said: “After getting involved in gold smuggling, he used to bring a large amount of illegal gold from abroad into the country. His gold smuggling route was Dhaka-Singapore-India. He imported a large quantity of gold from these countries avoiding taxes. As a result, his name became Golden Monir. In 2006 a case was brought against him under the Special Powers Act for Gold Smuggling.

Ashiq Billah said: “600 tons of gold were seized from Golden Monir’s house. The amount of this gold is about eight kg. We have learned that he is involved in a gold shop in Gauchia.

The RAB official said: “One foreign pistol, four bullets, four liters of foreign liquor, 32 counterfeit stamps, 20,500 Saudi riyals, 501 US dollars, 500 Chinese yen, 520 Indian rupees, one thousand Singapore dollars, two from the house of Monir Hossain “. Seized 70 lakh Japanese yen, 92 Malaysian ringgit, 10 Hong Kong dollars, 10 UAE dirhams and 60 Thai baht. The value of these is eight lakh 26 thousand 7 rupees.

Ashiq Billah added: “We arrested him at his home mainly for criminal offenses. Monir is basically a sunk merchant, gold smuggler, and land broker. He also owns a car showroom. Two unlicensed luxury cars were seized from Monir’s home. Each of which is worth around three million rupees. Additionally, three unlicensed foreign luxury vehicles were seized from the car showroom.

The director of the RAB media wing said: “We have come to know that the land thief Monir has become the owner of huge financial assets thanks to the collusion of some RAJUK officials. It has more than 200 parcels in the DIT project of the city of Dhaka, Badda, Uttara, Nikunj and Keraniganj. Meanwhile, it has initially admitted us about 30 plots. With the collusion of RAJUK officials, his wealth has increased to more than Rs 1,050 crore through fraud and gold trading.

Ashik Billah said at the briefing: ‘We have received several more allegations against Monir. RAB will formally request the Anticorruption Commission, BRTA, CID and NBR to investigate the allegations. The RAB will file a case against Monir at Badda Police Station under the Special Powers Act for criminal offenses and illegal possession of foreign currency. Lawsuits will be filed under the Weapons Act for possession of unauthorized foreign weapons and ammunition and under the Narcotics Act for drug possession.

Ashiq Billah said: “The RAB will request the concerned authorities to conduct a formal investigation into who else is involved in the various crimes of Golden Monir.” An intelligence agency has cooperated with the RAB in this operation with various information. So we have made this expedition subject to long-term search, observation and analysis. On questioning him, we discovered that he was deeply involved with a political party. And initially he confessed to us about the financing of that political party. ‘

The RAB director said: ‘Now we will take Monir to the RAB-3 office. There they will interrogate him. If someone else is involved in the questioning, legal action will be taken against them.
