A fire broke out in a warehouse on the sixth floor of a multi-story building in the capital

A fire broke out in an electronics warehouse on Badsha Mia Road in Matuail, the capital, on Thursday afternoon. No casualties were reported at the time of writing. The warehouse is on the sixth floor of a multi-story building called the Pasha Tower.

Rozina Akhter, a fire and civil defense service officer, said a fire broke out at a fan and light factory on the sixth floor of a 10-story building on Badsha Mia Road in Matuail around 4.30pm today. Upon receiving the news, five units of firefighters began to put out the fire. At one point, the fire spread to the seventh and eighth floors of the building. Subsequently, eight more units of the fire service participated in extinguishing the fire. Initially, the source of the fire and the extent of the damage were unknown.

Shah Iftekhar Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of the Wari Division of the Police, told Prothom Alo around 8pm that the owner of the building had an electronics business on Nawabpur Road in Old Dhaka. The warehouse for that store is on the sixth floor of Pasha Tower. Subsequently, the fire spread to the seventh and eighth floors. However, the fire service has controlled it by spraying water. The police are alert there. This is not a residential building. No casualties were reported.
