Mahfuz works as a welder in a workshop in the Dohar area of Dhaka. He fell in love with a young woman from Sonargaon two years ago.
But the young woman never responded to her love, instead she fell in love with a young man named Maruf and formed a happy family a year and a half ago. But that psychopathic lover Mahfuz has turned everything upside down.
After a long time, she chose to avenge that love rejection through heinous crimes like rape. His older brother Jasim and his wife Sharmin participated in the scheme. After the disappearance, the girl’s family filed a general diary at the Sonargaon police station. After that, the Narayanganj Police Investigation Bureau (PBI) began working on the matter.
Finally, the ‘one-sided’ lover Mahfuz was caught in the technology trap and the housewife was rescued in a dying condition.
Narayanganj District Police Superintendent Mohammad Monirul Islam told Jugantar that the housewife was originally abducted on October 23. On the same day, a woman named Sharmin called Sonargaon’s housewife in Narayanganj on her mobile phone.
The woman told the housewife that another girl had an extramarital affair with her husband and that they were secretly getting married the same day. After receiving the news from an unknown woman named Sharmin, the housewife received a call from her husband’s mobile phone.
The housewife was upset and contacted Sharmin by phone. Sharmin tells her to go to the Kanchpur Meghna bridge area with the promise of finding her husband. According to Sharmin, when the housewife went there, Mahfuz and two or three other unidentified people abducted her in a white minibus.
Later, the kidnappers took the housewife to Mahfuz’s home in the Dohar area after visiting various places in the capital, including Jatrabari and Gandaria. Mahfuz raped her several times while she was trapped there. The victim was subsequently taken to the Postagola area in Dhaka.
Police Superintendent Monirul Islam said the housewife disappeared and her family presented a general diary at the Sonarga police station on October 29. Later we actually started the investigation on the basis of that GD and on Thursday night the housewife was rescued from the Postagola area of the capital.
Mahfuz was subsequently arrested in the Dohar area on Friday night on the basis of information provided by him.
Monirul Islam further said that the housewife was dying at the time of the rescue. Mahfuz admitted that he had committed the crime out of revenge. And his older brother Jasim and his wife Sharmin helped him in this work.
The victim’s mother filed a case against Mahfuz, his older brother Jasim and Bhabhi Sharmin at the Sonargaon Police Station. At the same time, efforts are being made to arrest the other two defendants, including sending the arrested defendant Mahfuz to court for a three-day pre-trial detention.
