In Rangpur, the Potato Merchants and Warehouses Association has started selling potatoes at Taka 30 per kg, five taka less than the price set by the government. Activities have officially started in the Kachari Bazar area in front of the city’s main post office on Sunday morning.
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan launched the program. He said: “Initially, 100 metric tons of potatoes were sold in cold stores at 30 Tk per kg. The potatoes will be sold by truck at four locations in the city in phases. I hope that people will benefit from this initiative of the Association of Potato Distributors and Merchants.
The deputy commissioner said that the sale of potatoes through TCB will start very soon in Rangpur. Additionally, various teams, including administration and consumer rights, are working to monitor the potato market. Additional District Magistrate Golam Rabbani, Rangpur Office Deputy Director of Agricultural Marketing Abdullah Al Mamun, Executive Magistrate of District Administration Mahmud Hasan Mridha, President of Taibur Rahman Potato Business and Warehouse Association, Secretary General Biswajit Banik and others were present on the occasion.
