According to The New York Times, US President Donald Trump has admitted to having a bank account in China.
The BBC reports that Trump International Hotel Management manages that account. Even from 2013 to 2015, local taxes are paid from that account.
A Trump spokesperson said the account was opened to explore the potential of the Asian hotel business.
Trump has been widely criticized for targeting American companies doing business in China. As a result, a trade war has started between the two countries.
The New York Times says they learned of the account from Trump’s tax records. The record details Trump’s personal and business finances. Previously, the newspaper reported that Trump paid £ 1,500 in taxes in 2016 and 2017.
But in China, 1 lakh 8,561 dollars has been paid from his bank account for local taxes. Trump has criticized his running mate, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, and his policy toward China.
