The police have held Titu Chandra Das, a police officer from the Bandar Bazar outpost, who was suspended in connection with Raihan’s murder, for five days after his arrest. Officer Titu was brought before Judge Jihadur Rahman of the Sylhet Metropolitan Additional Magistrates Court around 2.30pm yesterday and was held in pre-trial detention for seven days. After the hearing, the court granted a preventive detention of five days.
Earlier, the PBI arrested Titu from the police lines yesterday at noon. This is one of the four accused of the murder of Raihan, a bailiff from the Bandar Bazar police post. The other three dismissed were SI Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, Constable Touhidul Islam and Harun Ur Rashid.
