Mahbubur Rahman, 62, sentenced to death for crimes against humanity at the Kashimpur Central High Security Prison in Gazipur, died on Friday. He is the son of the late Abdul Wadud from the Rainhati area of ​​Mirzapur upazila in Tangail.

Kashimpur Central High Security Prison Superintendent Shafiqul Islam Khan said Mahbubur Rahman arrived at the prison on July 20, 2019. His prisoner number was -4412 / a. He suffered from various diseases of old age, such as diabetes and heart disease.

Mahbubur Rahman fell ill in jail this morning. He was first sent to the Kara Hospital and then to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Gazipur. He died there at 5:40 in the morning. At the end of the judicial process, the body of the deceased was handed over to the family.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) ordered the execution of Mahbubur Rahman on June 26, 2019 for killing seven people, including Randa Prasad Saha and his son, during the liberation war.

Randa Prasad Saha’s ancestral home was at Mirzapur in Tangail. There he established several educational and charitable institutions. At one point, Randa Prasad Saha started the jute business in Narayanganj. He lived at Sirajdikhan in Khanpur, Narayanganj. The defendant Mahbubur Rahman and his associates took them from that house.

The father of war criminal Mahbubur Rahman, Abdul Wadud, was chairman of the Mirzapur Peace Committee during the liberation war. Mahbubur Rahman and his brother Abdul Mannan were in Razakar’s forces at the time. Mahbubur Rahman was once a supporter of Jamaat-e-Islami.
