Mithun Mandal, a freshman in the Department of Finance and Banking at Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST), has been suspended for making abusive, obscene and offensive comments about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on social media Facebook. The university’s public relations officer, Abdur Rashid, confirmed the information. He said the decision to cancel his scholarship was made at an emergency meeting of the university’s committee of deans, the teachers ‘association, and the civil servants’ association in the rector’s office on Monday morning (October 12). At the meeting, it was decided to bring a case against Mithun Mandal on behalf of the university administration in accordance with existing law, including the Digital Security Act, and to assist law enforcement agencies in this regard.
