The rapists stole gold chains and money at gunpoint before gang-raping a woman who was going for a walk with her husband at MC College in Sylhet. On leaving, one of them said, ‘Look, the girl is beautiful.’ After saying this, others also looked at him. Then they turned around and grabbed the bride. The husband who was with her protested. The rapists beat her husband and took him away.

After treatment, Shahporan OC Police Station (Investigation) Indranil Bhattacharya took the housewife to Sylhet Judicial Magistrates Court at 12:30 pm on Sunday. Judge Sharmin Khanam of the Third Metropolitan Magistrates Court said this in a statement given under Section 22 of the Child Abuse Prevention Act. After taking a statement, the tortured bride has been handed over to her family.

Investigators said the woman told the judge that she had been married for about two hours and 20 minutes. It will only be a few months. Meanwhile, she went to MC College with her husband on Friday. In the afternoon they went to the university campus. There she wandered the campus with her husband. They did a campus tour and left MC College in the back after the night. The rapists were stationed at the back of the campus at the time. Come to the newlyweds and surround them. At one point they stole gold chains, money at gunpoint.

On leaving, one of them said, “Look, the girl is beautiful.” After saying this, others also looked at him. Then they turned around and grabbed him. The husband who was with her protested. The rapists beat her husband and took him away.

He was also screaming at the time. The husband followed her when the rapists took her away. She went and entered the dormitory at MC College. Shortly after the rapists grabbed her, her husband arrested her. The rapists beat her husband inside the bedroom. At one point she was tied up.

The woman said: ‘They tied up her husband and began to torture him. At this moment she took their hands and feet to protect her dignity. But the rapists didn’t care. At that moment, no one came forward even though they screamed. Some young people wanted to come down from the second floor of the bedroom. At this time they were arrested with threats. Later, when the police left, the rapists fled.

After the incident, the Shahporan OC Police Station rescued the raped woman and her husband from the MC College dormitory with Babla, a former BCL leader, around 9pm on Friday. Upon receiving the news, a few more student leaders went there. After the rescue, the woman was admitted to the OCC of Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet. He was treated in the hospital under the supervision of specialist doctors.

Meanwhile, the husband of the gang-raped housewife told the media late Sunday that the rapists had demanded 50,000 rupees from her husband before raping the housewife in the bedroom. They took the rapist’s gold earrings and necklaces and 2,000 rupees from her husband’s wallet without obtaining 50,000 rupees.

He added that he went for a walk with his wife on Friday afternoon. I wanted to go home at night. On his way back from Shahparan, he stopped his car in front of the MC College gate and brought a cigarette.

The Shivbari area resident in South Surma in Sylhet said that after getting into the car, someone behind told him to stop. Then I said to my wife, I’ll talk about lowering the car glass a bit. They said don’t come down. After getting out of the car, they (Saifur and Arjun) ask who is in the car. I said my wife.

Then they cursed and said, ‘You’re doing brokerage business.’ He slapped me for saying this. So my wife got out of the car and stood behind me and asked why she hit my husband. When they started yelling, they told me to get in the car and take you to the police station. Scared, three or four of them got into my car. They sat in the back with me and put their wife in the front and carried one of them.

I said ok, take me under the law, no problem. They went to the sewer at the entrance to the bedroom and told you to take out your wallet. Taka of 50 thousand. I said I don’t have that much money. Take two thousand rupees. Then it hit me. He snatched his wife’s gold necklaces and earrings. Then one of them picked up my wife. The rapist’s husband cried saying this.

He further said, “I heard my wife screaming and I said, ‘It’s not okay, bro.’ After that, I couldn’t control myself anymore. I lost my mental balance. I couldn’t think of what to do. The head was not working.
