The Police Investigation Bureau (PBI) arrested her alleged husband, Moniruzzaman Chowdhury, 34, for killing a woman named Jannatul Ferdous Laboni in the cabin of the MV Parabat-11 motorboat on the Barisal-Dhaka route.

He was arrested on Tuesday (September 15) evening at the government premises on Main Abul Kalam Road in the Mirpur No. 1 Darussalam area of ​​Dhaka.

The arrested Moniruzzaman is the son of Abdus Shahid from the Kabasia area of ​​Gazipur. He lived in that neighborhood with his father.

This information was given by Police Superintendent Humayun Kabir at a press conference at the PBI office located at Ukilbari Road, Rupatli, Barisal at 10:30 am on Wednesday (September 18). Members of PBI from Dhaka (North) assisted in the arrest operation.

The body of an unidentified woman was recovered from the unique cabin No. 391 of the boat named Parabat-11 in the river port of Barisal on Monday morning (September 14), reported the PBI Police Superintendent. The cabin boy of the launch went to the cabin to clean the door and found the woman’s body with the door open. Upon receiving the news, the naval police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. According to the investigation and other indications, the matter can be confirmed as murder.

The police superintendent also said that the PBI was looking for the person who arrived at the cabin of the boat with the woman after seeing the CCTV images of the boat. At one point, the identified person was arrested in Mirpur using CCTV footage and information technology. During his arrest, several items were recovered from him, including a scarf, a mobile phone and a bag that Laboni used.

The defendant Moniruzzaman Chowdhury said they were husband and wife. They had an argument in the cabin on the way to Barisal in the evening. At one point, he killed Laboni by wrapping her in a scarf. After the motorboat reached Barisal, Moniruzzaman managed to escape and went to Dhaka by bus.

According to police sources, the detainee Mariruzzaman was the driver of Ride Share. This is his third marriage that the police are investigating.

The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of Barisal Sadar Naval Police Station, Abdullah Al Mamun, said they have brought a murder case as a plaintiff in the incident. Moniruzzaman has been taken into police custody.
