Amid tensions with China, India has successfully tested a missile launch at six times the speed.
The ‘Hypersonic Technology Demonstration Vehicle’ was tested at the APJ Abdul Kalam Proving Ground in Balasore, Orissa on Monday.
The fire reinforcement brought the hypersonic vehicle to an altitude of 30 km at 11:03. Later, the two parted ways. The vehicle is equipped with a Scramjet engine. The test completes in five minutes.
This hypersonic test demonstrator vehicle was developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
India has built this vehicle with the future in mind for long-range missiles and aerial platforms. This technology will cover all the needs in the manufacture of supersonic missiles.
Indian media claim that the technology came into the hands of India after the United States, China and Russia.
After the test, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted: “This achievement will lead to the success of the prime minister’s Indian mission, which is self-sufficient.” I have spoken with the scientists involved in this work.
