Sujaul Islam said he took the money from the Kachari Bazar branch of Sonali Bank around 11 a.m. on Monday and went downstairs. He put the bag on the motorcycle and opened the lock. In 30 seconds he opened the lock and looked up and saw that the money bag was no more. There were 12 lakh rupees in the bag.
Witnesses said they had already stolen money in the area. About a year ago, a retired NGO official in the area adjacent to the city’s meteorological office stole about two lakhs of rupees from the bank while withdrawing money from the bank.
