Walmart announced that it will close all stores on Thanksgiving this year and will pay special cash bonuses to associates.
The company made the announcement on its website and on social media, stating that it plans to pay another round of bonuses totaling $ 428 million to Walmart and Sam’s Club associates for their continued contributions and dedication during the pandemic.

“Our associates have been working at an incredible rate, solving problems and setting an incredible example for others,” said John Furner, President and CEO of Walmart US
“To further appreciate his incredible work, we are pleased to share another special cash bonus this summer.”
The bonuses include $ 300 for full-time hourly associates and $ 150 for hourly and part-time temporary associates, according to their website.
In a welcome twist of events for many employees, Walmart also decided to close all stores this Thanksgiving Day, November 26.
Walmart is known for lining up people after they’ve eaten their Thanksgiving meals to queue up for those one-time deals to start the holiday season, but not this year.
“We know this has been a difficult year, and our associates have taken a step forward. We hope you enjoy a special Thanksgiving at home with your loved ones, “said Furner.
US associates must be employed as of July 31 to qualify, and bonuses will be paid on August 20. This is the third round of bonuses that Walmart has provided to its associates in 2020.
