Today from Grand Theft Auto Online update, The Los Santos Summer Special, adds new missions, clothing, and 15 new cars, as well as some minor changes that can inspire players for a long time. While it may not be the biggest or flashiest update, it is a solid one that adds more to the ever-growing monster that is GTA Online.
The biggest addition to the Summer Special Update is six co-op missions. These new missions, which can also only be played, can only be activated if you have a hunt. These have massive boats been in the game for years, but many players might have forgotten them because they were not very relevant recently GTA Online activities as updates. Now, if you own one of these yachts or buy one when they go on sale this week, they have a new area where you can meet the captain and get missions.
These new missions are … fine. I’m always happy to see Rockstar adds more PvE co-op and solo missions to the game, especially those who are not tied to a business. Unfortunately, many of these missions entice you to the coast to deal with rival hunting owners as bands. One mission had made me shoot air conditioning units and steal a truck, and I forgot that I even worked with a sea captain. There are some missions that feel more suited to the nautical theme, such as a mission in which enemies hijack your yacht and take your captain hostile, than another that uses you with a coastguard firefighter to put out fires. pull. (Although this is still the case GTA Online: you help only because the fires destroy the cars of rich people.) GTA Online has never had much ocean content, and these hunting missions mark that fact.
The best part of the new hunting missions is the captain. He refers to how you have ignored your hunt (which is accurate for most players), how he and the unnamed bartender work all the time, and how happy he is that you finally decide to help out. I’m sorry, Captain! I have not had much to do with my big expensive yacht so far.

For fans of open hurdles, which was added earlier this year, Rockstar has added a few new tracks. The creator of the Open Wheel track is also in the game right now, and I’m excited to see what crazy courses people are starting to take. A few small changes to open hurdles should improve the racing experience: you can now change your tire type at pit stops, and players who go the opposite way on the track will become transparent ghosts that can not disrupt the race.
In minor but still exciting changes, Rockstar has added a few new video games and novelty cabinets for players to purchase and install in their personal arcades. I love my arcade, and I’m excited to add these new machines to my large collection.
There are also some minor quality of life changes. The update adds the ability to send your personal car back into storage via a new option in the menu. It also adds a timer that lets players know when they can spin the prize wheel in the casino again.
I doubt this update will bring players back or bring new ones, but it feels like a good chunk of small improvements, tweaks and additions that will keep current players happy (as happy as GTA Online players can be). And I’m all for Rockstar adding more content to some of the expensive and underused things we’ve all been buying over the years, such as our yachts. I hope this trend continues; I love more nightclub content than new missions from my expensive bunker next door.
