The PS5 can also see its price tag below the Xbox Series X. But unfortunately, it looks like the PS5 will have as many consoles as expected.
This is a new name in the Bloomberg report, citing anonymous sources and bringing in experts to comment on the details.
A Bloomberg report also said that Sony has slashed production estimates for the PS5 from 15 million units to 11 million units. According to Bloomberg’s anonymous sources, this is due to “production issues with its custom-designed system – no-chip for the new console”. Apparently at one stage during production, only 50% of the ingredients produced were the best to use, although this number has been rising ever since.
However, shortly after the Bloomberg report was published, Sony reached out to Gemindustry.biz with a statement claiming that the information published by the outlet was incorrect.
“While we do not disclose details related to manufacturing, the information provided by Bloomberg is incorrect,” Sony wrote in a statement.
The reduction in production will be for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, although the consoles from Sony and MicroSt. The result is that if console gamers are looking to upgrade, there are no PS5 consoles available, and could buy the next-gen Xbox instead.
In more positive news, Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Masahiro Wakasugi claims that Sony could push the price of the PS5 down to box 449 (and less than $ 400 for the digital edition) so that it can compete with the Xbox Series X priced at 9499. Which is still more expensive than the 300. Series S, but the PS5 digital edition will have exactly the same performance chops as the standard PS5. The Xbox Series S is a low-spec system that still provides fast loading and ray tracing but is limited to 1440p output.
Games consoles are usually sold at a loss, with the only significant exception being the Nintendo Wii in recent memory. That’s because it helps encourage users to buy consoles, while manufacturers make their money back by selling games. So Sony is likely to be very flexible with its pricing, especially now that we know Xbox’s dual-trend strategy.
A report based on the Spanish retailer’s list claims that the PS5 will cost 499 euros for the standard version and 399 euros for the digital version. These are the same statistics as Wakasugi, so there is more to this failure than just expert opinion.
Today (Sept. 16) is the day of Sony’s big PS5 showcase, we hope to see the price and availability of the new console announced with the release of the new game. Once we have that, it won’t be long before the new PlayStation and the new Xbox will fight this November.
