The official cause of death of Sean Connery has been announced after the family of the late James Bond star confirmed the news.

The veteran actor, best known for starring James Bond in a movie, died earlier this year after stepping out of the spotlight many years ago at the age of 90.

According to TMZ, which cites the death certificate of the Scottish actor, he died in his sleep from pneumonia, heart failure and old age. In particular, Kennery says he died of respiratory failure due to pneumonia as well as atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rate that increases the risk of stroke, heart failure and other complications.

The certificate confirms what Connery’s family told Fox News at the time of his death. He died at his home in the Bahamas on October 31 at 1 p.m.

“He died peacefully in the sleep of his family,” Kerner told Reuters on behalf of his wife, Michelle Rockbrunn, and their two sons, Jason and Stephen, at the time of his death.
