Avatar, the last airbender He had many dark moments to fuel his story, and his sequel capitalized on those themes in the same way. When The Legend of Korra made its debut, fans were stunned by its harsh tone, and its ground-level version of a violet revolution shocked many viewers. Of course, few moments in the sequel surprised fans like Hou-Ting’s death, and his murder has resurfaced online thanks to his hilarious (and highly inappropriate) treatment of Nickelodeon.
If you go back several years, you may remember seeing The Legend of Korra live when the Queen of Earth was killed. The demanding monarch had few friends in the kingdom, and was never afraid to lock up those who opposed her. Without caring about the public, Hou-Ting made many enemies thanks to her selfish ways, and that is why Zaheer ended up murdering the Queen of Earth in a brutal way.
After confronting royalty in the palace, Zaheer rededicated himself to anarchism when he used aerial flexion to suffocate the queen. Hou-Ting’s breath was stolen from her lungs, and her last moments were tense. The only problem is that the live broadcast of the episode included a terribly ad bumper moment.
People who will watch korra on Netflix will never experience this happening in real time … bad service … pic.twitter.com/uaStLkFG9T

As you can see below, Nickelodeon had a coded ad in the episode for a specific time. It happens that the time code was correct when Hou-Ting was being killed. Then, as the monarch wobbled to the ground breathlessly, fans watched in horrified horror as SpongeBob SquarePants rose to promote his show. You can imagine how unpleasant the ad felt given the episode’s content at the time, and netizens admit they still remember this moment live even after all these years. So if you thought The Legend of Korra I was wearing children’s gloves, you can think again.
