The Boys get a makeover early in season 3, but launch will be tricky

There are no spoilers for Boys season 2, but … there is more to the story.

During the SDCC 2020 panel for the hit comic series, producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg stepped up to announce that Boys Season 3 had already been approved by Amazon in anticipation of its second season, scheduled for September.

“If you like Boys, you have more … thank God, “said Rogen.

According to Amazon, Season 2 “even more intense, crazier” finds The Boys running away from the Supes and trying to regroup to fight Vought. During the panel, the cast presented the first clip of the new season, in which Butcher, Hughie, and Mother’s Milk face off against The Deep and a giant whale, and subsequently drive a boat through the fat of the underwater beast. It’s very funny.

Here’s the full synopsis for Season 2:

In their hideout, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adapt to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven when Homelander (Antony Starr) sets out to take full control. His power is threatened with the incorporation of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a new Supe with experience in social networks, who has his own agenda. On top of that, the menacing Supervillain takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.

As for season 3, it’s unclear when the cast and crew might get to do it. The current situation with the coronavirus pandemic and the state closings leave the future unknown for the series.

“When can we film season 3?” Rogen said out loud. “Anyone guess. Hopefully sometime in this decade!

The first three episodes of Boys Season 2 premieres on September 4. Subsequent episodes will drop on Fridays through October 9.
