San Luis Obispo County is reporting the deaths of two more people who tested positive for COVID-19.
Health officials say both patients were in their 80s and 90s. Both were in critical condition.
San Luis Obispo County also added 179 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the county’s total to 8,269 confirmed cases as of Dec. 17.
Seventeen people, including eight patients in the ICU, have been hospitalized. Another 1,606 people are recovering at home and health officials say 6,568 people have recovered.
There have been 56 deaths in San Luis Obispo County thanks to Covid-19.

The location of 26 additional cases is under investigation, and another 10 have been listed as “others” in communities with less than five cases. The public health department is not identifying those places.
Community COVID-19 test sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Peso Robles, Morrow Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
