Slack files EC competition complaint against Microsoft

said Wednesday that it filed a competition complaint against Microsoft Corp. MSFT,

alleging the illegal and anti-competitive practice of abusing their market dominance, before the European Commission. “Microsoft has illegally linked its Teams product to its market-dominant Office productivity suite, forces millions to install it, blocks its removal, and hides the true cost to business customers,” Slack said in a statement. “We are confident that we win on the merits of our product, but we cannot ignore the illegal behavior that deprives customers of access to the tools and solutions they want,” said Jonathan Price, vice president of communications and policy for Slack. The EC will review Slack’s complaint and then decide whether to open a formal investigation. Slack shares have recovered 45.1% to date as of Tuesday, while Microsoft shares are up 32.4% and the DIA Jones Industrial Average DJIA,
+ 0.11%
it has slipped 6.0%.
