Samsung could soon be pushing One UI 2.5 in Galaxy S20 series

Samsung could be treating the Galaxy S20 series a little differently in terms of UI updates compared to last year. As many of you remember, the Galaxy S10 line was released with One UI 1.1 out of the box, but was never updated to One UI 1.5. Instead, the series got some Galaxy Note 10 features lifted from One UI 1.5, and then leaped straight to One UI 2.0.

With that in mind, it’s easy to expect the Galaxy S20 series to skip One UI 2.5 and jump straight to One UI 3.0 alongside Android 11 (which is apparently also being tested at the same time). However, according to a couple of Twitter posts from @UniverseIce and @MaxWeinbachThis might not be the case, and the Galaxy S20 series could still be upgraded to One UI 2.5 some time after the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 line and before One UI 3.0 arrives.

One UI 2.5 is expected to further enhance existing elements of One UI 2.1. The update will also mark the launch of new features, one of which may be compatible with Google UI navigation gestures for third-party launchers. This addition was mentioned by moderators in the official community forums in South Korea for four months. Not much else is known about One UI 2.5, but there is a possibility that the update will also improve features like Pro mode for video.
