Ionuț Moșteanu, the spokesperson for USR PLUS, declared on Digi24 on Friday that Dacian Cioloș is the best proposal than Ludovic Orban for the post of prime minister, in the event that both parties end up collaborating to govern the country.
“USR will enter the government and will enter with a reform mandate. We want a prime minister with a mandate for reform. Nobody has a blank check from us. USR PLUS wants to give to the prime minister, to be very clear.
We want a loyal and honest government society. Mr. Orban disappointed me because he lied Wednesday morning, when he said some totally untrue things, he knew they were untrue. I understand the political battle, I understand the campaign party, I understand why everyone is attacking.
I want to sit at the table after the elections, we all talk.
Dacian Cioloș is, through our old USR-PLUS alliance protocol, the person designated to take charge of this portfolio ”, said the USR deputy.
When asked if Dacian Cioloș is more suitable than Ludovic Orban for a future government, Moșteanu replied: “Of course.”
The election of PSD deputy Florin Iordache to preside over the Legislative Council sparked a conflict between USR PLUS and PNL over the vote of the two parties for the candidates for this position, accusing each other of contributing to the appointment of Iordache.
The two parties also presented complaints of unconstitutionality to the RCC regarding the parliamentary procedure for the election of Florin Iordache, with the Social Democrat voting by simple majority.
The leader of the PNL deputies, Florin Román, declared that a “serious discussion” is continuing in the party to see if the PNL makes an alliance with the USR after the parliamentary elections.
On Wednesday, President Klaus Iohannis rejected the ultimatum announced by USR Vice President Cătălin Drulă, who said his party will not enter government with NLP if Ludovic Orban is also prime minister.
Cătălin Drulă’s statements blew up the PNL-USR alliance in Timiș and Timișoara. The liberals declared themselves offended by the deputy and interrupted the negotiations for the Provincial Council, negotiations led by the USR itself.
