The ANM issued two yellow rain and snow codes on Sunday morning, valid until Wednesday night, in all counties in Romania.
The first yellow code is valid between March 14 at 4:00 p.m. and March 15 at 2:00 p.m. and points to significant rains and snow in the high mountain area.
In Banat, Crișana, Maramureș and locally in the north and west of Transylvania, it will rain temporarily, and at altitudes above 1700 m in the western Carpathians and more than 1200 m in the north of the eastern Carpathians, it will snow and a new layer of snow will be deposited.
The amounts of water will locally exceed 20 … 25 l / m2 and isolated 30 … 35 l / m2.
In the west and in the mountains, temporarily, the wind will intensify, with speeds generally of 45 … 60 km / h, spreading the snow in the high mountain ranges.
The second yellow code is valid between March 15 at 2:00 p.m. and March 17 at 8:00 p.m. and points to snow and a constant layer of snow in the mountains and in Transylvania; blizzard at altitudes above 1500 m; heavy rain and snow in Moldova; locally significant rains in Oltenia, Muntenia and Dobrogea;
During the mentioned interval, there will be temporary rainfall in all regions, locally significant quantitatively in the south, east, center and in the mountains. It will accumulate amounts of water greater than 25… 30 l / m2 and, in restricted areas, 40… 60 l / m2. Sleet and snow, Monday through Tuesday (March 15/16), throughout the mountainous area and in Transylvania, where the newly deposited snow cover will be constant.
In Moldova, at the beginning there will be heavy rains, and from Tuesday (March 16) snow will predominate, quantitatively significant especially in the mountainous area.
In the mountains, at more than 1500 m, the wind will intensify with speeds generally 55… 75 km / h, and from Tuesday (March 16), especially in the South Carpathians, the gusts will exceed 80… 90 km / h, blowing snow.
Wind intensifications will be reported, locally and temporarily in Transylvania and Moldova, but at lower intensities.
