Three former directors of a financial institution have been sued by DNA in a case in which the damage exceeds 16 million euros. Two representatives of some companies are also on trial for the same embezzlement case.

The prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate – Section for the Fight against Crimes Assimilated to Corruption Crimes ordered the prosecution of the five accused. They are being tried at liberty. These are the former CEO of a non-bank financial institution, the former deputy CEO, the former director of sales and two directors of some companies.

According to DNA, the defendants allegedly did great harm by concluding leases.

“In the indictment, the prosecutors pointed out the following fact: between July 2007 and September 2008, the general manager of a non-bank financial institution, with the help of the two directors under his subordination, allegedly concluded without any right a series of 42 financial leasing contracts with the companies controlled by the two entrepreneurs. The respective contracts were entered into in violation of the rules of the National Bank of Romania and of the internal rules of the company led by the first three defendants. With these steps, the financial institution will not bank would have been harmed with the amount of 16,313,843 euros ”, announced the DNA prosecutors.

The non-bank financial entity that succeeds in rights to the injured company became a civil party in the criminal proceeding with the amount of 17,645,271 euros. The case was sent to trial at the Bucharest Court.
