Monica Anisie refused to participate in a debate on education with the vlogger Selly, motivating, at the time, October, that the epidemiological situation in Romania is dangerous, and a face-to-face encounter could have consequences. At the beginning of October, when there were only 3,000 daily cases of infections in Romania, no more than 10,000, as now, the Minister of Education said he is not going to the PRO TV studio, which hosted the meeting with Selly. But, after only a month, Anisie went to the aforementioned television, without fear of catching it, where she spoke about the reason why the government closed the schools. And what the one who is also a Romanian teacher could say is frankly amazing: the schools were closed in solidarity with the doctors!

“In recent weeks there has been an increase in cases of disease, the number of infections is increasing, look at the hospitals in Romania. We must show solidarity with the doctors, we take these measures, suspend face-to-face courses in education units, complementary to the possibility that the activities carried out by the parents are teleworking, therefore, the parents work from home, the children continue their education from home.

The Romanian government has taken this step because we have to think about the health and safety of children, but also of parents. Studies by epidemiologists show that children are very good transmitters. At the moment, the contagion rate in schools is very low and I have said it before, since there is no danger of getting sick in the school space, but outside. From the first days of the school year we saw the parents who were at the school gates without masks, you have to take into account the traffic in big cities ”, said Monica Anisie.

The Minister of Education recognizes that the contagion rate in schools is very low, less than 1% among students, teachers and support personnel, but its closure has been taken as a precautionary measure.

“At this time, the contagion rate for students and teachers is below 1%, according to data received by the Ministry of Education from the Directorate of Public Health. It is important for all of us that these children stay healthy, so that they can continue their education. “, Anisie also explained.

According to the DSP, the epidemiological situation in the last 14 days in schools is as follows

0.057% of students are infected

0.66% infected teachers

0.59% infected auxiliary personnel

0.46% of non-teaching staff infected
