The incident occurred earlier this week, on a bus belonging to the Local Public Transport Company of the Suceava City Council. The bus was traveling on line 2, between the “Policlínica” and “Banco” stations, in the Areni neighborhood, when the woman was attacked from behind by an individual.
The tax collector took a drink of water, choked, and coughed. A man who had just boarded the bus screamed that he had COVID.
At one point, the tax collector headed to the area where the man was, but not to confront him, but because he wanted to collect tickets from other passengers.
Then the individual attacked her from behind, kicked her, threw her to the ground and then hit her on the head, shouting: “The coward is killing!” Everything happened so fast that, in the first phase, people did not react.
When the bus arrived at the “Banco” station, the attacker wanted to get off and at the same time drag the tax collector. The other passengers, including a police officer, then intervened. The latter tried to immobilize the aggressor, but failed.
The victim eventually arrived at the hospital in shock and with a broken hand. She is now on sick leave.
Meanwhile, the assailant was identified, detained by police and transferred to the Suceava County Hospital Psychiatry Department.
When contacted by telephone, the head of TPL Suceava, Darie Romaniuc, stated that the victim is a non-conflictive woman over 50 years old, who has not had any problems so far.
