The online school came with several problems. In addition to the “broken” hours of hackers who have compromised the relationship between teachers and students, there are teachers who refuse to enter the Internet not only due to lack of devices or the Internet. They say they don’t want to use platforms that have illegally collected personal data. And those who teach online have many technical problems.
This, given that approximately 4,600 schools in Romania attend the school, even online.
Cornelia Popa, vice president of the Federation of Free Trade Unions for Education, says there are several reasons why teachers don’t want to teach online.
“Either they do not have the necessary technical equipment, or some faced strange situations in the last part of the last school year, in which some students gave links to other classmates, who entered and disturbed the class, the teachers were offended, the images were was posted on Facebook. The situations were repeated and the Ministry of Education did nothing, the legislation practically does not admit the veracity of a lesson, how students participate, what obligations they have and what happens if they do not respect these obligations, “he said.
Other classmates say that, although they have access to the internet, the children at home do not receive the message, they are not heard through the mask and they cannot work simultaneously with the students in the class and with those at home and then seek solutions. And of course, many care about the fact that they did not give their consent for the dissemination of the image, “she added.
Rareș Voicu, president of the National Student Council, says that several colleagues from the country told him that there are teachers who do not want to teach online because they have not received the necessary infrastructure and do not want to go home with laptops and tablets.
“I have colleagues who study online, in a hybrid system and I have teachers who enter the classroom on tablets and laptops, but the students at home do not see them, or they do not hear them, or they cannot interact with their colleagues.” Voicu said.
The student said that he is also in the hybrid system and took lessons from peers who were in class and that only one teacher took classes online.
Andreea Ionescu, representative of a parents’ association, says that schools are still working on the infrastructure for online teaching.
“I hope that as many teachers and administrators will soon take away the good things that can happen, because if we complain incessantly we will not solve anything,” he said.
Cornelia Popa also has an explanation that school equipment was not purchased with government money.
“We are trapped in the electoral campaign, many inspectors are also trapped in the campaign and so far this money has not been accessed. If since April we were concerned about absorbing these funds, having the technical means in the classroom, we would no longer have this problem, “he said.
“We are waiting for the technical team and I guarantee that the teachers are ready to move on. And there are solutions with an adequate legal basis, so that teachers are not exposed, “said Popa.
60% of school inspectors and two secretaries of state from the Ministry of Education are involved in the electoral campaign, running for a seat in the local elections on September 27.
Andreea Ionescu gave the example of a school principal who, instead of making sure the educational institution is ready for the new school year, “went and distributed brochures around the city.”
“Thus we find ourselves in the situation in which two schools belonging to the same mayor, equipped with everything we need – one knew how to organize an online education at a satisfactory level for the better, and in the other school, although there are classes with 30 children , the whole school was called to the green system, ”he said.
“We observe from all parties those candidates who have any other concern, except to guarantee a quality educational act. I find it despicable, because even the position for which they campaign, each person has a very clear set of attributions and failure to comply with these attributions means negligence, “said Rareș Voicu.
