Who is the owner of ANAF, appointed president of the Board of Directors of CEC Bank

CEC Bank announced changes in the Board of Directors, approved on Friday, September 4 by the General Shareholders’ Meeting, for which the head of ANAF, Mirela Calugareanu, was appointed chairman of the Board of CEC Bank, replacing Valentin Mavrodin, who he was removed from office.

Mirela Calugareanu was appointed head of ANAF in 2017, during the Tudose government. She left the leadership of ANAF in 2018, but returned to the position in 2019, being appointed by PSD Prime Minister Viorica Dancila. The Orban government kept her in office.

“The General Shareholders’ Meeting of CEC Bank, a credit institution fully controlled by the Romanian state, through the Ministry of Finance, today approved changes at the Board of Directors level. Thus, Mirela Calugareanu, non-executive member of the Board of Directors of CEC Bank since 2017, was appointed Chairman of the Board, replacing Valentin Mavrodin, whose mandate as Chairman was revoked, remaining as a non-executive member of the Board of Directors, “said the bank in a press release.

According to the same statement from the institution, the management of CEC Bank is ensured by the Board of Directors, which has seven executive and non-executive members appointed by the General Meeting of Shareholders. Among the members of the Board of Directors, the executives are also members of the Bank’s Board of Directors, through which they ensure their operational management.

Valentin Mavrodin – Non-Executive Member
Ciprian Badea – Non-Executive Member
Mirela Sitoiu – Non-Executive Member
Mihai Gogancea Vatasoiu – Non-Executive Member
Bogdan Constantin Neascu – executive member, CEO and chairman of the steering committee
Mihaela Lucica Popa – Executive member, member of the Steering Committee.

Mirela Calugareanu (53 years old), new President of the Board of Directors of CEC Bank, has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2017. Currently, she is the president of the National Tax Administration Agency (ANAF).

He has more than 29 years of experience in Public Finance, holding various positions within the General Directorate of Public Finance in Bucharest and within ANAF. Mirela Calugareanu was the coordinator of the Fiscal Administration Modernization project, in partnership with the World Bank, which aimed to computerize the institution. Mirela Calugareanu is a graduate of ASE, an expert accountant from CECCAR and has a PhD in finance.
