One of the options considered by PSD for the position of prime minister, if the motion of censure is approved, is the vice-governor of the NBR, Leonardo Badea, economist on the Board of Directors of the National Bank, former president of the Financial Supervision Authority and former PSD senator. Badea began his teaching career at the small “Valahia” university in Targoviste.

According to his CV, Professor Leonardo Badea, currently a member of the Board of Directors and Vice Governor of the NBR, has a degree in economics from the “Valahia” University of Targoviste, where he began his academic career in 2000. In the first two years he was an assistant professor , then a university professor, between the same years 2000-2002, and then, until 2008, to occupy the position of Scientific Secretary of the same faculty. Meanwhile, in 2005, he obtained a Doctor of Economics degree from the Academy of Economic Studies.

After 2008, he became dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the “Valahia” University of Targoviste, a position he held until 2012, when he became vice-rector of the entire university.

He began his political career in 2012, being elected Senator of Dambovita in 2012 by PSD (on the lists of the USL), during which he held the position of Secretary of the Budget, Banking and Capital Market Committee of the Romanian Parliament. Four years later, he was also elected deputy for Dambovita, and considered a close collaborator of the former president of the PSD, Liviu Dragnea, he was appointed president of the Budget, Finance and Banking Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.

However, his mandate as deputy is extremely short, only six months, being appointed in 2017 president of the Financial Superintendency, a position paid with about 15,000 euros per month.

Two years later, he resigned from the ASF leadership, a resignation that occurs in the context in which his political protector, Adrian Tutuianu, is expelled from the PSD by Liviu Dragnea and arrives in ProRomania, according to Adevarul.ro. However, with the support of PSD, he was appointed in the fall of last year to the position of deputy governor of the BNR, a position paid with more than 10,000 euros per month.

His CV lists no less than 15 awards and honorary diplomas received, of which we mention: “Diploma of honor and distinction” Professional of the year 2018 “for promoting the image of professional organizations of Romanian economists and for the involvement and professional openness in re-launching the capital market “, awarded by the General Association of Romanian Economists in 2019 or” Diploma of recognition for the contribution to “Enabling the business of agriculture 2019” awarded by the World Bank Group, 2019.
