The Director-General of WHO urges countries to invest in public health.

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said the world must be better prepared for the next pandemic, Agerpres reports, citing Reuters.

“This will not be the last pandemic”said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at a press conference in Geneva.

It appeals to all countries, saying that all should invest more in public health to be better prepared.

“History teaches us that outbreaks and pandemics are a reality. But when the next pandemic hits, the world must be prepared, more prepared than it has been this time.”said the head of WHO.

More than 27.19 million people have been infected with COVID-19 worldwide, of which 888,326 have died since the first coronavirus cases appeared in China in December 2019, according to a Reuters report.
