The suspects in the case were, according to the judicial portal: Carmin Ionescu, the son of the leader of the Direction 5 gang, Elis Armeanca, Răzvan Mihăiţă Ciobanu, but also other people who were not part of the social world. Raluca Bădulescu and Marian Ionescu were the only witnesses in the case.

Two young men, Adrian Cărbunescu and Vincius Andrei Damian, were detained in preventive detention after hearings and another, George Gheorghiu, was placed under house arrest. There were merchants supplying the world of Bucharest with expensive drugs.

The case was quickly sent to trial by Ploieşti’s anti-mafia prosecutors, just three months after the hearings, in the Bucharest Court. Despite the spectacle on the day of the hearings, only three people were on the list of defendants brought to justice, the dealers George Gheorghiu, Vincius Andrei Damian and Adiran Cărbunescu. VIP suspects Carmin Ionescu, Elis Armeanca and Răzvan Ciobanu were not among the accused.

On June 6, 2019, DIICOT Ploieşti requests the Bucharest Court to admit the reunification request to the criminal investigation into the name of Carmin Ionescu. The court admits the request by means of a final solution.

What penalties did the distributors who left in the process receive?

The drug trafficking case goes even further in the trial phase with only the three defendants mentioned above. Last year, on Christmas Eve, the Bucharest Court ruled in the “Cocaine for VIP” case.

According to the judicial portal: CĂRBUNESCU ADRIAN was sentenced to “3 (three) years and 6 (six) months in prison for continuously committing the crime of illicit trafficking in dangerous and high-risk drugs.

– Condemn the same accused to a penalty of 6 (six) months in prison for committing the crime of possession of high-risk and high-risk drugs for personal consumption, without rights.

– merges the penalties applied to the accused CĂRBUNESCU ADRIAN with this one, after which he will execute the most severe main penalty of 3 years and 6 months in prison increased by 2 months in prison (1/3 of the other penalty of 6 months in prison), finally, the main penalty of 3 (three) years and 8 (eight) months in prison in detention ”, according to the conclusion of the meeting.

DAMIAN ANDREI VINICIUS and GHEORGHIU GEORGE also received identical penalties, being found guilty of the same acts, drug trafficking and possession.

Impressive amount of cocaine bought by Carmin Ionescu

The court ordered the confiscation of the quantities of drugs (cocaine, cannabis and MDMA), found during the searches, in the houses of the traffickers. At the same time, impressive amounts of money obtained from drug trafficking were seized:

– 131,400 lei of the defendant CĂRBUNESCU ADRIAN (average quantity calculated as a quantity of 328 grams of cocaine and 3 grams of cannabis sold by the defendant to the suspects NESTOR BARBARA, BARBU MARIAN ALEXANDRU, the collaborator with code name “ADAM CRISTINA” and the defendant GHEORGHIU GEORGE) Y 60,000 euros (Average amount calculated as 600 grams of cocaine sold by the accused to the suspect IONESCU CARMIN MIHAI);

5,650 lei of the defendant DAMIAN ANDREI VINICIUS (average amount calculated in an amount of 14 grams of cocaine and 1 gram of cannabis sold by the defendant to the suspect NESTOR BARBARA, the witness IOSIF DAN and a young man of unknown identity);

280 lei of the defendant GHEORGHIU GEORGE (average quantity calculated in a quantity of 6 grams of cannabis sold by the defendant to the suspect IONESCU CARMIN MIHAI and to the witness IONIŢĂ FLORIN MARIUS).

The judgment of the Bucharest Court, delivered on December 21, 2020, is not final. The appeal is currently being tried before the Bucharest Court of Appeal. The first deadline was set for February 24, 2021.
