The president of the PNL, Ludovic Orban, seeks support in the party for the position of president of the Chamber of Deputies, after he resigned as head of government, party sources say.
Ludovic Orban has already held talks with some close leaders to ensure their support in the future Parliament for the leadership of the Chamber of Deputies. His position was also proposed by President Klaus Iohannis, during the Cotroceni debate.
Thus, the president of the PNL aims for third place in the state, after Iohannis told him that it will not be his proposal for the position of prime minister designated for the formation of a new majority.
However, Ludovic Orban will negotiate on behalf of the PNL the formation of the parliamentary majority together with USR PLUS and UDMR.
Prime Minister Ludovic Orban announced on Monday that he is resigning from the government. The decision comes after a discussion with President Klaus Iohannis, in which the president asked him to assume the failure of the parliamentary elections.
