The mayor of Bucharest, Nicușor Dan, announced on Thursday evening that the Christmas fair in the Capital will not be organized this year, because “we are in an exceptional health situation”. He also said how the fair will be organized in the coming years.
“We are not going to have a Christmas fair this winter because we are in an exceptional health situation, in which doctors and medical personnel die. We do not allow ourselves to amplify this disease. In the next few years, when we have been through this pandemic, as it is happening around the world, we will have a Christmas fair.
The mayor’s office will be in an honest business partnership with private operators, make the space available, pay a rent and be subcontracted, pay for cultural events. It is a commercial matter, in which the City Council never pays anything, we will do so from now on.
From a health point of view, we are on the edge of the abyss. We Bucharest, my strong opinion is that we should not have a Christmas fair this winter, ”said Nicușor Dan.
A month ago, the mayor had stated that it is unlikely that the City Council will allocate more money for the Christmas or Easter fairs, because the money must go to emergencies.
