The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) is the surprise party of the 2020 parliamentary elections. A party almost unknown in the general panorama of Romanian politics, with political leaders on the brink of public notoriety, with a far-right orientation , ultra-nationalist and anti-European. The results of the exit polls, 5% and triumphed where the most titled politicians were broken their heads by the infamous electoral threshold. Keeping the proportions, the 2020 GOLD is the 2000 PRM.
A victory all the more surprising when compared with the results obtained by AUR in local elections held less than 3 months ago: on September 27, AUR ranged between 13-16 places at the top of the political parties after obtaining 0.99 % of the votes for the election of the county councils, 0.43% of the votes for the local councils and 0.29% of the votes for the election of mayors.
AUR is a party led by co-chairs George Simion (head of list in the Senate) and Claudiu Târziu (head of list in the Chamber of Deputies).
The party was practically founded on December 1, 2019 by George Simion after unsuccessfully running as an independent in the European Parliament elections the same year.
Members or supporters of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians have distinguished themselves, especially in the last period, by an extremely vocal presence on social media.
The most recent example was the scandal surrounding the pilgrimage to the cave of St. Andrew and the defiance of the authorities by His Eminence Theodosius, when his lawyer, Diana Șoșoacă Ivanovici, ranked first in the Senate on the GOLD lists in Iasi said that if he had stopped us, we would catch him in the field and arrive at San Andrés. God help! “
AUR identifies itself as a conservative party. What it means to be “conservative” in 2020 we find out right in the political program of AUR, a party that is based on four pillars: family (traditional mandatory), nation (Romanian), faith (obviously Christian) and freedom (but with certain limits).
Let’s take them one at a time.
The family. But only the “traditional” and nothing else
For GOLD, “the family is the basic cell of any viable society” – this is a perennial expression, inherited directly from the Golden Age, when model citizens were regularly reminded that the family was the “basic cell of society. “.
On the other hand, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians goes further and specifies that, regarding marriage, this “„ can have as its main formula only the couple formed by a man and a woman. Any other variant of the union of the sexes is not related to the true meaning of this formula. For this reason, in the conception of GOLD, the family is not a negotiable issue, since there is no problem to be solved ”.
Sexual minorities and their rights are not part of the Alliance project: “The GOLD doctrine considers that gender ideology is a theoretical aberration that descends from the current office of neo-Marxist activists. Just as an organism can only stay alive if its cells are healthy, a nation has no chance of survival unless it cultivates the classic pattern of the ordinary family.
Homeland. Except for “allogeneic” populations
“The homeland is the homeland of the father, if we listen to the etymology of the word, while the mother tongue is the language spoken by the mother. These milestones are fixed and impossible to confuse, ”we learn from the chapter on“ homeland ”in the GOLD program and doctrine.
Like any party that proclaims itself nationalist, AUR fights for a “Greater Romania in Europe”. The party also assumes the unionist project – the union of Romania with the Republic of Moldova “as a country project” and a “priority in the national strategy”, but, beyond this beautiful expression, a clear “project” is not presented with a roadmap and strategic directions.
“Greater Romania in Europe does not only mean national reunification. It means a significant participation in shaping the future of the European project”, is also shown in the AUR program.
Furthermore, GOLD is declared for Europe, but “one of the nations, not a federal superstate with a single capital, a single government and a single parliament. A federal socialist empire is a utopia that the GOLD doctrine cannot share. We do not believe in the United States of Europe and we will programmatically oppose this trend of harmful hegemony. We are clearly against the colonization of Europe with foreign populations. “
Faith. Only the Christian. Atheism, a “roam arrogance”
The third “pillar” of the GOLD doctrine is faith. Excluding the Christian: in the GOLD program we found 0 (zero) references to other religious beliefs.
“When we say faith, we implicitly say church, tradition, and nation,” says the political party document.
Atheists don’t have much of a chance to join the “union by union” project either:
“In the conception of GOLD, atheism is a wandering that arises from the arrogance of those who imagine that an anthropocentric vision of the universe is superior to a theocentric one. Just as GOLD is against the campaign of persecution to which Christianity has been subjected in recent decades. AUR will oppose the defamation of the clergy, the deterioration of the symbols of faith and the commitment of believers who have the courage to publicly assume the condition of Christians, ”the program shows.
Muslims, Buddhists, Rastafarians and the article of the Constitution on freedom of conscience are not mentioned.
Freedom. But with some conditions
“Today, the state’s measures to restrict free speech are too obvious to list,” we learned from AUR.
Freedom of expression also means the right to fight against Marxism:
“Our alliance is openly opposed to any form of contemporary Marxism. The currents of political correctness, gender ideology, egalitarianism or multiculturalism are camouflaged forms of the neo-Marxist wound. No dialogue can be linked with whom, under the false screen of the fight against discrimination, they end up destroying the hierarchies and values that centuries of tradition have raised with patience and love ”.
Regarding the “colonization of Europe with foreign populations”, AUR draws attention to article 3 of the Constitution which states that “Foreign populations cannot be displaced or colonized in the territory of the Romanian state”.
