Each parliamentarian receives a monthly allowance starting at 11,000 lei. If an elected official occupies a position in the management of a specialized commission or in the management of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, it can lead to compensation of up to 14,000 lei. Under the Statute of MPs and Senators who are not domiciled in Bucharest or Ilfov County, they receive a daily allowance of 2% of the gross monthly allowance for each working day in the capital. Therefore, every day the chosen ones receive approximately 400 lei if they are at work.

Another 10,000 lei go to the accounts of the deputies and senators every month, if they are not domiciled in Bucharest or Ilfov county, to pay for their accommodation, a statement is only needed on your own responsibility. “Deputies and senators who do not reside in Bucharest or Ilfov county receive monthly, during their tenure, on the basis of a statement under their own responsibility which is a supporting document, a lump sum from the budget of the Chamber of Deputies and , respectively, of the Senate, coverage of accommodation expenses in Bucharest. The amount is established by decision of the permanent regrouping of the two Chambers, based on budgetary resources, but not less than half of the gross allocation of the deputy respectively of the senator ”, stipulates the Statute of deputies and senators.

Concerning their travels, deputies and senators are free on the train, and for domestic air travel they are entitled to one round trip per week.

Deputies and senators are also entitled to a lump sum to be covered by the parliamentary offices in the territories, that is, employee salaries, income, public services and other things necessary for the activity. The lump sum has a value of one and a half gross allowance per month, which means that it can reach more than 20,000 lei. If we look at the fixed expenses of the Chamber of Deputies in September, that is, the last month for which data is available, we can see the deputies who asked for 5,000 lei (in Ilfov county) as a lump sum to the elected who they asked for 35,000 lei (in the county of Constanţa).
