The Romanian football boss revealed the dates when matches in Romania could start again and spoke about the worst case scenario considered by the Romanian Football Federation: the disappearance of several clubs in League 1 and League 2.

“We have 3 goals that we want to consider. The first is health for all involved. The second is related to the financial sustainability of the clubs. The third is the desire for any decision to do the least injustice to those involved. In League 1 there are 8 play-off stages and 12 play-out stages, in League 2 and League 3 there are 14 stages and we still have the Romanian Cup and promotion barriers in League 1. We are now working on various scenarios, gradually resuming the competition: May 27, June 3 and June 13.

The 53 competitions in Romania will be postponed until the state of emergency is lifted. We spoke to the Interior Ministry to see if certain restrictions are lifted in early May. If we start on May 27, we end the internal competitions on June 28.

If we start on June 13, it means that we will communicate to the teams that will go to the European Cups on July 15, and the prey of League 1 will be played on August 1. UEFA did not tell us that August 3 is the deadline to end the championship. Now we have from June 30. It can’t be on August 3 because some countries have to finish the competitions later, ”Răzvan Burleanu told Pro X.

“Soccer will change. It will be a complete reboot. Soccer will be totally different, including what I knew a few days ago.”

Răzvan Burleanu: “If we don’t resume the championships in June, we will no longer find 14 professional clubs”

“If we talk about the financial impact, the most powerful championships, we anticipate losses of between 20 and 25% if the championships are not resumed.” That’s what I hope to be in League 1 if we don’t start in early June. I fear that If we do not resume the championship by May, we will no longer find 14-16 professional clubs in the first two leagues. The impact of this crisis may be beyond the worst nightmare. Even if some are saved, they will be affected for years to come. This is the scenario we are working on now, if we do not resume competition by June. The impact is enormous.

We are in permanent discussion with LPF, AFAN, clubs and with County Associations. All things considered, I say we will not support freezing competitions until we have exhausted all variants. Soccer must name its winner on the field.

The goal is to save the clubs. Only in this way can we ensure that we will have the same jobs in the future ”, added the head of FRF.

“FRF is perhaps the only organization in Romanian football that is financially stable. Last year we had a financial surplus of 1 million euros and reserves of 4 million euros”
