Police, gendarmerie and SIAS chiefs made statements after the Easter scandals in some marginal areas of Bucharest, Piteşti or Braşov.
“Public opinion must understand that the most protected value is life and, therefore, the intervention forces use the lethal resource only when there is no other way to resolve the incident,” said the head of SIAS.
At Easter, the police intervened in almost 10,000 events, of which 8,500 were notified through 112 and gave 24,000 sanctions, of which more than 14,000 for noncompliance with the provisions of the military ordinances.
Regarding the Easter street conflicts, Vasilescu announced that 4 people were arrested in Hunedoara, 8 detained in Brasov and 11 in Bucharest. In his case, more than 50 sanctions were imposed, but the investigation was not completed.
Crime has decreased by 17% compared to last year and by 10% compared to 2018. The downward trend continues in the case of violent crime: the decrease is 47% compared to last year and 21% compared to 2018.

The Inspector General of the Romanian Gendarmerie, Colonel Bogdan Enescu:
– An exemplary mobilization of the Gendarmerie employees was necessary, in the last 72 hours with a daily average of 8,000 gendarmes nationwide, 3,000 penalties for infringement worth 3 million lei.
– We assure you that we are in the field and we have zero tolerance for antisocial protests.
Several people quarreled on Sunday on a street in Săcele, Braşov County. Police intervention was necessary to calm the rioters. The filming shows a car being attacked with sticks or shovels and a young man being hit.
Police were called to the scene. In the fight, several people were injured but did not require hospitalization.
The spirits calmed down after the police fired warning shots.

In the case, a criminal file was prepared in which investigations are carried out for attempted murder, brawling and disturbances of public order and tranquility, implemented under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Brasov Court.
