The Mayor General of the Capital, Nicușor Dan, responded to the Minister of Health, who requested that the restrictions be maintained in Bucharest, including during the meeting of the Committee on Emergency Situations in Bucharest. “As a local authority, I have some responsibilities. That is what the law says,” said Dan, who justified the lifting of the restrictions as a result of the incidence rate of less than 3 per thousand inhabitants.

The mayor general suggested to the minister not to interfere in the affairs of Bucharest.

“We have to learn to share our competence. As a local authority, I have some responsibilities. That is what the law says. We have a National Committee that has made these decisions and has established these incidence rates. I already have enough responsibilities not to go further. Beyond the responsibilities of others. There is a Minister of Health, a National Committee, I as an authority subordinate myself. In the content of the decision, it is written that the relaxations are carried out as long as the index remains below 3, which which is very likely, ”said Nicușor Dan.

In a letter sent to the Municipal Committee for Emergency Situations, Health Minister Vlad Voiculescu requested the maintenance of restrictions in the Capital.

“We believe that in the national and European context, relaxation measures represent a great risk,” said the minister, who said further relaxation would jeopardize the reopening of schools, which is a priority.

The Bucharest Municipal Committee for Emergency Situations decided to lift various restrictions in the capital from Monday. The decision comes after three days in a row the incidence of COVID-19 infection was below 3 per thousand inhabitants.
