Romania is preparing to impose quarantine on those who come from countries with a high degree of spread of the coronavirus, such as France, Spain or Belgium.

This is the announcement made on Wednesday night by Prime Minister Orban, who specified that the restrictions will be more lax. For example, those who show a negative test after 5 days of isolation may be released from quarantine.

In Germany, on the other hand, the authorities are announcing an extension to risk areas in Romania and fines of 25,000 euros for violating the period of isolation at home.

The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, a body of the European Commission, has published an updated list of high-risk countries. There are states in which in the last 14 days an average of more than 120 infections per 100,000 inhabitants has been registered.

In Spain the situation is more complicated, 320 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, then the Czech Republic, France and the BeNeLux states. Even Hungarian neighbors rank high on the rankings, although they have imposed entry limits and severe traffic limits.

For these states, but also for others, Romania is also preparing to impose restrictions, Prime Minister Ludovic Orban announced.

Ludovic Orban, Prime Minister: “For those who come to Romania and remain in Romania for a maximum period of 3 days, the quarantine obligation will not be imposed, if they come with a negative COVID test performed 48 hours before entering the country. If they want to stay more than three days, they will have two options: quarantine for 14 days, if they do not want to stay in quarantine for 14 days, on the fifth day they will have the opportunity to take the test, and in case the test is negative, at moment of receiving the negative test, they will be able to leave the quarantine ”.

Romania is not doing too well either, we have an infection rate of 106 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Germany has just announced that two more counties are on its red list, which means that Romanians coming from these counties must be quarantined for 14 days to isolate themselves.

Even if you are not from these counties, but you are going to Germany by plane from an airport located in a county at risk, say from Otopeni, then you must remain in quarantine for 14 days.

The Germans do random checks if this deadline is met and, if not, the fine is 25,000 euros.
