All ministers, except Ministers Bogdan Aurescu and Marcel Bolos, will run for parliamentary elections on behalf of the PNL, Ludovic Orban announced on Sunday night.

Orban’s announcement after the meeting of the National Permanent Office of the PNL in which the lists of candidates for the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies were validated, in the elections established by the government for December 6:

  • We have validated the lists for the most part, with very little change compared to what was voted in the branches, supporting the candidacy of Minister Nicolae Ciuca for 1st place in the Senate in Dolj.
  • Candidate in Bucharest, in the Chamber of Deputies, Mara Mareș, president of the youth organization
  • Otherwise, we follow the proposals of the county branches.
  • Among the ministers, all are candidates, with 2 exceptions: Mr. Marcel Boloș, who is a missionary priest and prefers to serve Bogdan Aurescu, a career diplomat
  • Violeta Alexandru is running for second place in the Bucharest Chamber of Deputies
  • Also in Dolj, the Minister of Sports, Ionuț Stroe, is running
  • Monica Anisie, 3rd place in the Senate
  • Florin Câțu, 1st place in the Senate
  • Sorin Cîmpeanu, rector of the USAMV, 2nd place in the Senate
  • Ionuț Ștefan, candidate for 1st place in the Vrancea Chamber of Deputies
  • The head of the Chancellery, Ionel Dancă, is also running in Vrancea
  • The Secretary General of the Government Antonel Tănase will also race in Bucharest
  • In Ialomita, Robert Chioveanu, president of ANSVSA and secretary of state of the Ministry of Education Luminiţa Barcari will open the lists for the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.

Orban said that he is the one who supported the candidacy of Daniel Constatin – he went from the ALDE to the party of Víctor Ponta and then to the NLP – because “he was with the NLP at a decisive moment” and he is “a strong candidate.”

The NLP leader also said that those who are no longer on the lists or have no more candidates or “because of the situation”: “Although some of them are no longer on the lists, we are still together.
