Justice Minister Stelian Ion said on Thursday that a new anti-corruption strategy should be adopted because the existing one has expired, specifying that there are many well-worked projects in the ministry, but that he wants to have a personal approach in this regard. He specified that DIICOT must be strengthened in terms of logistics and human resources.
“We also have a big problem with corruption and that national anti-corruption strategy has expired. It will be evaluated and after this evaluation we will have to adopt a new anti-corruption strategy, as well as the strategy to combat organized crime. There are things worked on in the ministry, most of them are very well done, we are going to take charge of them, but, as I gave you the example of the bill on the abolition of the SIIJ, I have a personal approach to these things and I want to pass them through our filter . We will reevaluate these strategies in the new team ”, declared Stelian Ion, this Thursday, at a press conference.

He mentioned that it is necessary to strengthen DIICOT. “DIICOT must be strengthened. It is very clear that it needs this reinforcement and in the government program this reinforcement is provided from the logistical point of view and from the point of view of human resources, ”said Stelian Ion.
He considers that a good collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior is necessary and considers that the direct subordination of the judicial police officers to the prosecutors would be necessary.
“It is very important to have a good collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, with the police. Also in the government program we address the issue that has often been avoided, but which is requested by prosecutors for more than 10 years, it is from the idea of the direct subordination of the judicial police to the prosecutors, to have a subordination of the police in relation to the Prosecutor’s Office. And that there is no longer any subordination, not even administrative, to the police. It is a delicate issue, but I will address it because the prosecutors ask for it and it is very good that these teams of prosecutors and police, very often it is the police who carry the burden of the investigation and do most of the criminal investigations and then this collaboration must be perfect and free from interference. I will have a discussion with the Minister of the Interior on these issues, “transmitted the Minister of Justice.
