On 12/15/2020, the prosecutors of the Directorate of Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Territorial Service of Craiova ordered the detention for a period of 24 hours of a number of 5 defendants, for the commission of the crimes of formation of a organized criminal group, usury, blackmail, human trafficking and pimping.

In this case, it was observed that, as of 2016, several people started and constituted, in Dolj and Argeș counties, an organized criminal group specialized in granting various people sums of money in the form of loans, for which they received a interest of 20% / month, in the activity involving both the leader and 4 other members of the group who had responsibilities in the collection of sums of money (loans and interests).

If the aggrieved was late in payment or for other reasons could not pay the interest owed on the due date, the members of the group resorted to threats and blackmail to recover them and charged, in addition to interest, other additional amounts (“delays / fines ”), Amounts that were calculated in percentages or fixed amounts for each day of delay in the payment of interest.

Between October and December 2020, some of the suspects forced an injured person, through acts of physical violence and threats, to engage in prostitution in a place located within the municipality of Pitesti, fully benefiting from the money obtained by it.

On 12/15/2020, the prosecutors of DIICOT – Craiova Territorial Service together with agents of the BCCO Craiova judicial police carried out an action to catch a defendant in flagrante delicto, while receiving the amount of 2,300 lei, an amount that represents the interest monthly charged for a loan.

Likewise, the defendant was discovered in the amount of 9,709 lei, which represents the interest received on the loans granted, two knives, a box and a handwritten document containing personal identities and amounts borrowed.

On December 15, 2020, prosecutors from the Directorate of Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Territorial Service of Craiova together with agents of the judicial police of the BCCO Craiova carried out a series of 17 house searches, in the counties of Dolj and Argeș, after whom the amounts of 64,848 lei, 64,565 euros and 6,020 pounds were collected.

4 cars, handwritten documents containing the identity of the borrowers and the amounts granted with the loan, bank cards issued in the name of the borrowers together with the corresponding PIN codes, as well as identity documents of some of the borrowers (preserved by group members as a promise).

At the same time, 5 pistols (of which 4 with non-lethal ammunition and one with a bullet), a rifle with non-lethal ammunition, blunt and stabbing objects and bodies (knives, swords, models, spears, sticks and telescopic sticks) were disabled. , computer systems, a grinder, a joint and 4 medication tablets.

Today, the 5 defendants will be presented to the Craiova Court with a proposal for preventive detention for a period of 30 days.
