While George Simion was addressing AUR supporters, several Timisoara residents in Victoriei Square, including several revolutionaries, expressed their dissatisfaction with the presence of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians in front of the Opera, symbol of the Timisoara Revolution.
The people of Timisoara tried to stop the AUR leader’s speech, while the gendarmes made a cordon between AUR sympathizers and protesters, in an attempt to prevent the incidents.
“Trash, liar, manipulator!”, “Disappear, provocateur!”, “Why did I fight in this Revolution? What a shame, thieves!” George Simion, who continued his speech.
“I have nothing more to do than be with honest people. Thank you, people of good faith! (…) We are GOLD, we are on the right path, we trust each one of you, we remain as we have known each other for 15 years “I come to Timisoara every year to commemorate the Revolution,” said George Simion, who, accompanied by supporters, then left for the Metropolitan Cathedral to light candles in memory of the heroes who fell during the events of December 1989.
The organizers of the AUR rally urged the inhabitants of Timisoara to participate on December 22, in Bucharest, in the commemoration of the heroes of the Popesti Leordeni Revolution, the place where the ashes of the martyrs were thrown in the crematorium of the capital in those days.
The Society of Timisoara sent, on Wednesday, a protest against the intention of the leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, George Simion, to participate in the commemorative events of the Revolution in Timisoara. The company representatives accuse that two officers involved in the repression of the Revolution – Francisc Toba and Nicolae Roman – became GOLD parliamentarians, and without resigning them and without asking them to resign, Simion will not be able to participate in the demonstrations.
